For being so good at the doctor's office today, I did a quick run around Design Archives this morning as my reward. In addition to all the fabulous vintage clothes they carry, they also have a good supply of vintage patterns, notions, fabric, etc. I picked out these patterns thinking it might be fun to sew some clothes from the old patterns with new fabric. I tried to get patterns that looked relatively easy, so we'll see how it goes. I think my first step will be to carefully unfold the original patterns, make sure they're whole or at least fixable, and then I'll probably trace the original on to paper that I can work from.

We have some stuff called PatternEase which you can use to trace patterns onto. It's not paper so it won't tear. You need some.
ReplyDeleteI think I made dresses off of the Butterick 6634, it looks familiar to me. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou are making your mum proud! When are you going to start patchworking(quilting)? good luck.
ReplyDeleteI do need the PatternEase, thanks! I ought to jump on the halter dresses right away while there's still time to wear them. While I do enjoy sewing and want to continue learning more sewing skills, I don't know if I'll really get into the quilting side of things (but never say never). I've decided that this works well for Mom and I, to have similar but different interests. It gives us a PLETHORA of ideas to swap with each other!
